Rules
"House rules"/divergences from the published rules are highlighted.
⚖️ Core
- The regular Jet Lag - The Game: Hide & Seek rules apply.
- This is a 🟠 medium sized game.
- We'll play one round each and then see if there's time for a second round each (with an option on stepping down to a 🟡 small game if necessary).
- Teams must generally 🤝 stick together; they can not split up for strategic purposes except e.g. where required by a curse.
- 📍 Google Maps shall be considered the ultimate source of geographic truth.
🙈 Hiding
- You get ⏲️ 60 minutes to hide.
- You may use 🚇 Underground, 🚉 Overground, 🚉 Elizabeth Line, 🚉 DLR and 🚶 walking only.
- You must be off-transit and within a valid hiding zone after 60 minutes.
If you fail, you must call for a "pause" and return to the last transit stop you passed before the seekers begin; as a penalty, subtract the time the game was paused from your eventual score. - Your hiding zone is the area 📏 500m around your nearest 🚇 Underground, 🚉 Overground, 🚉 Elizabeth Line, or 🚉 DLR station.
- You have a hand limit of 6 cards. If you ever hold more than 6 cards, you must discard (not play) until you have 6 or fewer cards.
You may choose to play cards before drawing cards in order to reduce your hand size, but if you've already seen the newly drawn cards you must discard. - You have 5 minutes (10 minutes for photo questions) to answer questions.
It is considered unsportsmanlike to deliberately wait until the last second to answer! Answer as soon as you're reasonable able to. - Once the seekers are within your hiding area and off transit, the "endgame" begins. You are now in your "final hiding spot" and may not move from it.
You are expeced to choose a final hiding spot that is (a) within 3m of road or path marked on Google Maps or (b) in a public building that is not a business (e.g. a shopping centre is okay; a shop is not) - this rule exists to allow fun/interesting end locations; don't abuse it! It must be open and accessible for all game hours. - If you're asked a question that requires you to move and you reasonably expect the "endgame" to begin within 10 minutes, you may request a pause while you answer.
This rule, proposed by Ben Doyle on the subreddit, exists to prevent seekers forcing hiders out of hiding with near-endgame photo questions. - Multiple curses may be played at once, but there can only be one curse active that either prevents seekers from asking questions or prevents seekers from taking transit.
🔭 Seeking
❓ Questions
- You cannot use the same photo to answer multiple questions.
- Photos taken before the endgame can not be used to answer questions asked in the endgame.
- A vetoed question can be asked again at increased cost.
This is as-published in the original rules/S12, not as-amended in the expansion rules/S16. - Street trace: trace the entire street, even if the street/path extends past the edge of the hiding zone. Not sure where a street begins/ends? Search for it by name on Google Maps.
